Week 1 & 2 Reflection

I’ve discovered that I’m not as computer/internet/technology savvy as I thought I was. Being born in the 90’s everyone expects me to understand all of these new advancements in technology, but I’m a seventy year old woman at heart.

That being said I had a hard time with what we have been doing in class and the assignments on bootcamp. Most of the time I can get the basics and do what I can, but I know I’m falling behind and asking for help is not what I’m used to.

I want my blog to be very clean and organized, but doing so is somewhat difficult for me. I also already have a problem trying to find inspiration or even ambition to write in my spare time, so now posting on my blog has become tough.

When I do think of topics to write about I do get very excited though, maybe so excited that they aren’t very professional, but for now I’m just having fun.

Bootcamp overall was challenging for me, but I enjoy learning more and more about the blogging world.

Copyright and CC Movement

I’ll be honest and say that I don’t understand all the details about copyright or the CC movement, but I will be doing more research to understand them fully. Although, right now, I do believe in creative freedom and I don’t think that creativity should be “stolen”, but sharing is important!

I also don’t want to say too much in case I say something inaccurate or off topic. So for now, I’ll leave it at that (even though it isn’t much) and add more later.

Please comment if you would like to help enlighten me on the subject.

Thank you.

I got a feedly account last Wednesday and since then I haven’t used it much. I think it’s a great tool, but I already get posts and such emailed to me so I suppose I just forget that I have the feedly account. I’m sure once I really get into blogging almost everyday I’ll use it more often, but right now it’s just another resource I don’t use.

Toby’s back!

For those that do not know, I like to name things. I’ve named my car, my phone, parts of my body, parts of other people’s body, other peoples cars and so on.

I started doing this my junior year of high school when I received my first car. Well… I named him after I slid into an SUV and totaled him… but if it wasn’t for that accident I would have never met the love of my life, Pam.

Pam is my 1997 Honda Accord. She’s a very dark purple color (Plum to be exact) and I love her very much. I named her after Pam from The Office, as well as my phone, Kelly, and my computer, Toby. (Toby can be a lil’ bitch sometimes.)

About two days before finals week of the fall semester Toby decided to stop working. My best friend and I did everything we thought possible to fix him up. She called her dad who is a computer wiz, I went to the campus computer people, we cleaned him up and restarted him and did what we could to get him running, but nothing worked.

Finally, I just gave up.

When winter break rolled around I told my mom about the situation and we mailed Toby over to the HP people and they gave him a new hard drive.

About a week later my mom sent him over to me and now he’s back and better than ever! Although, they could not transfer over any information on the old hard drive so I lost all of my pictures, poems, short stories and anything else I had saved to him. Dammit Toby!

Give Leo an Oscar

I’ll start off by saying that I don’t know what it takes to earn or receive an Oscar, but by this point I think Leonardo DiCaprio deserves one.

Many sites such as iFunny, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. joke around that Leo has never received an Oscar and I think at this point it’s just sad. Give Leo an Oscar!

If you have not seen The Revenant yet, I highly recommend you get your butt up and run to the movie theater right now. It’s a truly amazing movie that will probably make you rethink your whole life and then vent about how awful and ungrateful people are these days (just as my best friend did after we saw it).

If you are The Fucking Great Gatsby you deserve an Oscar.

If you decide to let go of life and drown in the freezing cold waters of the ocean to save a red head you’ve known for less than three days even though there is room on that chunk of wood to save both of your lives and tell her to have lots of babies with someone else other than yourself, you deserve a mother fucking Oscar.

If you can play a mentally handicapped child in Whats Eating Gilbert Grape and then be The Wolf of Wall Street you deserve a gosh darn Oscar.

Must I continue?

Don’t get me wrong, Leo has received many awards and I like to think he appreciates and loves his job and all the nominations and awards he has obtained, but can he just get his Oscar already?

And a shout out to a few other AMAZING actors that have not received an Oscar yet:  Mark Wahlberg, Will Smith (WILL FUCKING SMITH), Liam Neeson, Robert Downey, Jr. (ROBERT FUCKING DOWNEY FUCKING JR.), John Travolta (maybe not that amazing but still), Sigourney Weaver (HOW?), Amy Adams, Tom Cruise, and Johnny Depp.

I found all of these on http://magazine.foxnews.com/celebrity/20-good-actors-without-oscars. So if they are out of date I apologize.

Again, I’m not an expert on what it takes to achieve this award, but gosh darn it… Give Leo an Oscar.

A Summary of Myself

I suppose I should begin my introducing myself. Hi, my name is Rachel Hoheisel. I lived my life for 18 years in a small town called Zimmerman. Before coming to BSU, I went to a school called SMSU in Marshall, Minnesota. I wasn’t quite fond of it there so I decided to transfer to another school that had my major, creative writing, and now I’m here. (I do prefer BSU much better.) I’ll be turning 21 in October and I plan of going sky diving with anyone who dares to go with me. Should be exciting.

A few of my interests include:

  • Game of Thrones
  • Hedgehogs
  • Hot Tea
  • Swimming
  • Volleyball
  • Floral Print
  • Typewriters
  • American Horror Story (Though Freak Show kind of sucked)
  • The Office
  • Coffee
  • Sleeping
  • Stories
  • Debates
  • 80’s movies (John Hughes is a genius)
  • How I met your Mother

And I could go on but you get the gist.

Right now I am with out a laptop (hard drive issues) so I’ll be coming to the library to post, tweet and what ever else.

Oh, another fact that may be important. I am an absolute terrible speller and at times I don’t know what the hell I’m saying so if something is confusing or just doesn’t make sense at all please let me know (but nicely because I’m also a sensitive soul).

TTFN, Ta Ta For Now,

Experience with WordPress

To begin, I thought it would be a lot more difficult to create a blog, but like most things it was just the patience and motivation to get started that got in the way. WordPress made it easy and even a little fun to get started. Although tedious, I had fun setting up my blog and designing it to display my personality and interests.

I think next I’m going to post a little something about myself and then after that maybe some life adventures I’ve encountered. Story time!

I’m looking forward to writing my next post and reading other’s as well.
